Here is a <div> tag containing text. It is floating as you can see.

Earlier in the week I had a 90's music moment while listening to Marvin the Album by frente! The most well-known song of the album is probably "Labor of Love" but the rest of it is worth a listen. The album was recorded in 1992 and released in '94 which was two decades ago! Despite its age, the songs still sound amazing, (although I will admit a couple of them are perhaps a little too quirky for my taste). Apparently I have the international version which features a remake of New Order's "Bizarre Love Triangle". Love it! The orange-ish artwork of fish adorning the cover is really eye-catching. The CD stands out in my collection. I think I'll listen to it again!

Throughout the next week I am hoping to carve out time to continue working on this beast of a website. I do it for myself mainly because I am not sure who actually visits this site aside from myself. I would like to change the CSS code of the welcome page to be more eye-catching and reduce the size of the floating layer. I'll have to better understand how the floating layer works to accomplish this which could take a whole day of research in my case. Secondly, I would like to add something which lends greater structure to the top of this page. Again, more research shall be needed. Finally, I had a baby! So that makes everything even more challenging.

Below is some CSS code I was messing with...not sure what to do with it really, but it looks neat.

Spring has sprung. Many of the flowers around my house are blooming wildly, and neighborhood folks are wearing shorts instead of winter parkas. I have been living in the Bay Area for over five years, and I love comparing and contrasting what my life is like here versus what my life was like when I lived in the Chicago area. I can talk on that subject for hours! Just ask anyone, but I will spare you the details, dear readers, for now. Muahaha.

The internet is such a wonderful resource. I was curious about my dog's antics, and I found this webpage of interesting dog information.

Sorry for not updating this site regularly. I have been busier than ever with school, and we've been doing a home improvement project. Painting our interior has been more time consuming than I had imagined.

My photo of Grace Cathedral was recognized and selected in Flickr's Schmap photo contest! The photo speaks for itself. Don't see it? Place your mouse over the map near the words "Nob Hill." An image of the cathedral should appear automatically. Click the icon and you'll be taken to Schmap - an online guide of cool stuff to do in the city.

Today is 07-07-07! How often does that happen? The July 4th weekend passed by in a flash. Dan and I went to Angel Island with a church fellowship where we barbecued, had a water fight, and enjoyed the scenery. This was my first time at Angel Island(scroll down for images), so I was ooh-ing and ahh-ing every five or six minutes. Despite getting a sunburn, I was happy for the sunshine. Dan was feeling adventurous, so we rented a couple Segways and toured the area. Once I got comfortable, riding the Segway was fun.

Insomnia sucks. I've struggled with maintaining a "normal" sleep cycle for the last several years. Everything will be well and good, and then insomnia strikes for a few weeks at a time. At 10:00 p.m. I prepare to sleep which is pretty early for me. Then about midnight, my mind kicks into overdrive. The creative ideas begin flowing, and now here I am typing the wee hours away. It would be cool, if only I could fall asleep once the ideas stop. But basically, my entire sleep schedule goes to pot when the "creative ideas" run out at around 4 a.m. At that time, I'm left with only three to four piddly hours to rest. And I don't sleep. I slowly drift in and out - mostly out. When the sun comes up, I feel akin to a lizard. My eyes are half open and there is no spring to my step. I just drag from point A to B like a mass of sludge migrating by the force of gravity to the lowest plane. Sloooooow-mmoooooo.

As a young thing, I loooved playing Chinese checkers. I inherited a portable plastic set made by Pressman from the mid-1980's. On the other side of the case was regular checkers. It was so cute and came with glass marbles and regular checker pieces. Over time my strategy proved unbeatable. I tried a version on the web called TruantDuck just now and defeated the 'droid during the first round. Yeaa!

Subway no longer serves the Seafood Salad sub and life is a bit less wonderful because of it. The Seafood Salad sub was my favorite item on their menu. I am going to write a letter, as soon as possible, to Subway's corporate HQ. Listen up Subway: Bring back the Seafood Salad sub!!!

As an adult I have begun to piece together traditions I was taught as a child to what I believe and have tested as an adult. Reading about this, the saints are venerated - not worshiped. Veneration is distinct from worship.

Worship

The word worship troubles me. What does it mean? Wikipedia says, "Worship usually refers to specific acts of religious praise, honour, or devotion, typically directed to a supernatural being such as a god or goddess..."

Have you ever heard of lucuma? It's a fruit flavor I had never heard of - lucuma - from Peru - until I tried it at an ice cream shop. I tasted maple syrup and there were small bits of fruit that were kinda like beans. It was good!

Butterflies used to fascinate me as a child. I remember seeing a National Geographic documentary about the migration of Monarch butterflies to a remote region of Mexico. I finally looked up the migratory location on the net: Angangueco.

MyHeritage.com features a cool facial recognition technology. The results depend on what picture you choose. I tried it twice and the resulting look-alikes differed a lot. Nonetheless, it is fun.
